About

Just as I was about to enter my teenage years, I was introduced to the world of Dungeons & Dragons.

UnsureDwarf

As part of every game we were handed out these little figures that represented the characters of the game. I was instantly fascinated by them and wondered how they were made and was impressed by the level of detail that they had.

Although the world of D&D faded as I grew older, my interest in fantasy remained. In my late teens I started to collect and paint these little “lead” figures.

These pages are dedicated to the craft of producing these little miniatures, and also furthermore to the art of painting them and laying them out in scenes called “dioramas”.

Nice site! Like the bias towards the more old school miniatures. A chap after my own heart.

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the encouraging comment Tim!

Seen Sablesinge over at frothers, looks like that one could be quite a collectible little item. Look forward to seeing a painted up version when it’s finally cast.

Add that one to my list of must gets…

I collected lead figures all through the 1980′s and early 1990′s. Always looking out for old figures from Superior and Grenadier, Essex, your site is bringing back a lot of memories, thanks.

Hi. I’ve got a question about the Asgard druid from the “Personalities” series (the one with the antlered-helmet). Did he come with a shield or weapon to mount in his left hand? I bought one recently on ebay, and I wondered if the figure may have originally been offered with either a shield or a staff. [email protected]

I had a look through my catalog list, and the druid you refer to “personalities F7″ doesn’t appear in any of the catalogs I have, I’m afraid.

Looking at the image on wikipedia however, he does have a very odd open hand which might make you think there was perhaps a place for a shield; but I am guessing that this is more likely a weakness in the casting that makes it look like something could go there. Add-on plastic shields weren’t really thought of till much later, so I’d assume he didn’t have anything in his left hand.
