Support Reaper Bones (and get miniature rewards)

Tuesday, August 14th, 2012

Reaper miniatures want to ramp up their line of Reaper bones miniatures. In case you missed out, Reaper bones are Reaper’s foray into the world of polymer miniatures. They are really cheap to buy and the quality is great, unfortunately the cost of setting up the production line (tooling) is very expensive.

This is what reaper have to say:

Since the launch of Bones in March, a full third of the figures we ship are Bones Gaming Miniatures. We have 8 pages of Bones suggestions going in our forum. It’s clear that you, our fans, want more of these Bones figures. And why not? They’re awesome sculpts at a terrific price! What’s not to love?

As it turns out, they’re also really expensive to produce. The mold costs alone are astronomical. In order to grow this line, we can do it slow and steady over the next several years, or we can defer to you guys and launch a bunch of new ones as soon as possible.

By the end of the year, we anticipate having 30 products in the Bones line. What this Kickstarter will do is at least double the Bones line to 60 total models: character models, new sculpts, big monsters, the sky’s pretty much the limit.

All we need to kickstart this thing is your support.

In order to spur you onwards they are offering a fairly sophisticated kickstarter reward program. Depending on how much you offer up, you will receive various miniatures in return. Best check out their web-site to prevent me from having to reproduce all the details here. I suggest you look at the column on the right which makes a lot of sense before looking at all the miniature eye candy.

Necrotales Patchwork Clothing & Stitching

Necrotales - Patchwork Clothing & Stitching

Interesting article on how to paint patches and heavy stitches. Patchwork sticking is great for adding rough character to your miniatures. Don’t overdo it though, that is unless you happen to be creating a giant flesh golem miniature whose evil creator couldn’t find big enough patches of humanoid flesh.

Dark Heaven Bones – Reaper Goes Polymer

Monday, March 12th, 2012

Reaper have just announced a new line of miniatures, these being polymer miniatures. This means they should be cheaper than their metal equivalents. Reaper state that existing miniature paints will work well with this new range of miniatures.

The first figures out of the box look like a great start. Hopefully they’ll keep adding to them over the coming months.

Check out the video.

So now we have citadel fine cast, Trollcast, and Reaper’s Dark Heaven bones. Who next to jump onto the resin/polymer band-wagon?

Bar Room Brawl Miniatures

From the diaries of Cherrick Redspire (Era 201 – SunShock)…

The ‘bridled hippogriff’ was the last inn on the edge of the village before the long road up to the moors. I supped from my mug of ale, contemplating the long walk to the next village, retiscent to continue. The place is quite busy by all counts, probably the weather putting people off from heading home. I look up as the rain lashes against the window. Water drizzles onto the frame through the hole where one pane of glass should have been. I scowl at the downpour; nothing worse than a long muddy walk in a deluge.

That was my mistake… (more…)
