Blending

This painting technique is where a surface on your figure has a smooth transition between one colour and another.

It requires much patience, but essentially involves laying down fully one colour (say dark blue). You then add a small blob of your alternative colour paint (say mid blue) and using another brush with a small amount of water to gently “stretch” the colour across the surface away from the highlight area. As this is done the highlight will fade down to the original colour thus blending into the background colour.
